In the 1810 Census Ann Watkins is listed between Reuben Watkins and James Watkins who would have been her sons.

There is one female listed who was 45 or older which would be the right age group for Ann who would have been 56 at that time.

With her are listed another woman between the ages of 26 thru 44 and a girl and a boy both under the age of 10. She had three daughters whose birth dates would have made them fall into this age group:

1. Winnifred (b. 1784) can probably be excluded as she appears to have had only one child who was born in 1814.

2. Susannah (b. 1777) can also be excluded as her two children were born after 1810.

3. So this leaves, Sarah Watkins Butler (b. 1776) We have not been able to find an 1810 listing for Sarah and her husband, Daniel. Possibly he was already traveling to Ohio to look for opportunities in that state to which they eventually moved. They had a son, Benjamin, who would have been about six in 1810 and a daughter, Martha, who would have been about two. Hinshaw shows that Daniel, Sarah and their children were transferred by certificate from the Upper MM in Virginia to the Fairfield MM in Ohio in 1809.

This suggests that either Ann married another Quaker without first getting the permission of the Quaker monthly meeting or that she married outside the Quaker faith. Unfortunately it does not tell us whom Ann married.

It seems strange that it was three years after she had been 'disowned' for 'marrying contrary to discipline' that she would be released from her duties at the overseer of the Seacock Particular Meeting.

Was this because of illness, death, or some other cause?

Guy Bailey and Elizabeth Bailey are appointed to attend their marriage for good order and make report to next meeting. No further business the meeting adjourns till the next in course at Blackwater."

Next to Isaac Zane, it is most probable the Marmons-Robert, Martin and Samuel three brothers, from North Carolina-were the earliest white settlers coming in 1805. Robert settled on the farm on which his son, Joshua, resided for many years...
The Marmons were men of marked influence in the early settlement and improvement of the. country. They were members of the Society of Friends, and it is probable that it was in this sphere that Robert was most influential. Quiet and unobtrusive in his deportment, orderly in his daily walk, and liberal in his hospitality, he contributed largely to the encouragement and assistance of those less fortunate than himself.
