UNION, SC-- Mrs. Roberta Foster Watkins, 92, widow of Henry Clay Watkins, of 206 Spruce Street, Union, passed away Friday, July 15, 2011, at Regional Hospice Home in Spartanburg.
Mrs. Watkins was born in Union on November 6, 1918, a daughter of the late Robert Ernest Foster and O.B. Brannon Foster. She was a graduate of Union High School and attended Limestone College. Mrs. Watkins served as secretary at the First Presbyterian Church for many years and worked alongside her husband at Watkins Marine and Equipment. She also worked for the Girls Scouts and was involved with the Welcome Wagon of Union County.
Surviving are a daughter, Gail Dinkins and husband Andrew of Clemmons, NC; a son, Tommy Watkins and companion Patsy Willard of Union; two sisters, Mamie LeFevre of San Angelo, TX, and Betty Ready of Columbia; one brother, Bob Foster and wife Beth of Edisto Island; a brother-in-law, Ken Fujishiro and wife Daisy of Lansdowne, VA; three grandchildren, Mark Dinkins and wife Laura of Mocksville, NC, Clay Watkins of Dillon, and Casey Watkins and wife Monica of Union; and five great-grandchildren. Mrs. Watkins was predeceased by a sister: Jane Fujishiro.
